With breathtaking views of Mt. Timpanogos and the Heber Valley, this elegant rustic retreat just outside Park City, Utah, is gorgeous inside and out.
The architecture of the home is such that a grand vista can be seen from each window and in every direction. To play up the beauty of the surrounding landscape, we pulled the outdoors in using a series of design elements.

Mountain Inspired Color Palette

As the artwork above reflects, we pulled varying shades, tones, and hues of blue, grey, rust, brown, and white from the vista beyond the windows of the retreat. The outcome reflects a oneness with the surrounding landscape and the structure of the retreat.

Communal Layout

An unfettered flow was achieved from area to area without walls blocking the view and egress and ingress from living to dining to kitchen.

Soaring Ceilings & Timber Joists

Must-have elements of elegant rustic retreats are soaring ceilings supported structurally and visually by wood timber joists. The contrast between the dark wood and white walls is dramatic and defining. While the window and door frames provide an additional contrasting element.

Stone Fireplace for Gathering

Instead of a fireplace built of massive stones, the client’s elected for a clean contemporary look of brick tiles.

Kitchen for Cooking, Eating & Entertaining

To accommodate the clients and their guests, the kitchen had to be open and welcoming. Lots of seating is a must as well as ample surface space at the island and surrounding counters. The high ceilings and picture windows provide a sense of spaciousness.

Rustic & Elegant Mix of Materials

With so many complementary and competing finishes in the kitchen, one would think it would feel chaotic. However, the mix feels at once rustic and elegant. The mother of pearl backsplash adds a touch of glamor and luminescence.

Blend of Dark to Light Finishes

A spectral blend of dark and light finishes creates a sense of warmth and coolness. The floors in warm honey tones warm the space up while contrasting black and white cabinets are balanced with opposing white marble and black granite countertops. The black finish is carried onto the sliding pantry doors and the window frames.

Luxe Leather Paired with Textural Fabrics

The stately high wing back captain’s chairs present an element of luxury dressed in buttery navy leather. Textured wool in light grey adds a touch of lightness to the table setting.

Serene Bedroom Getaway

The bedroom, surrounded by views of the mountains, provides a bit of serenity for slumber or relaxation. The upholstered bed with mirrored accents at the head and foot adds a touch of decadence and glamor to the otherwise rustic room.

A Bathroom with a View

Oh, that view, though! The bathroom exudes a spa-like feel with marble floors and countertops. The double vanity allows for twin porcelain basins set atop dark finished cabinetry on the expansive main wall.
